In the beginning stages of planning our wedding, Shaun and I had decided to just send out an email Save the Date but after seeing our engagement photos I convinced him we had to mail one out. Our photographer Liz of White Pear Photography Studios is AMAZING!
DIYing doesn't have to be difficult. I used Microsoft Office Word to create our Save the Date cards and with some manipulation it can do wonders. For the cover I used a free printable from Wedding Chicks and I was well on my way to creating this beautiful yet simple card.
I used the Hearts and Polka Dots free printable which is customizable. You can check Wedding Chicks website for other free printables.
Materials:
8.5 x 11 Superfine White Cover Cardstock (Paper Source)
A2 Peacock Envelopes (Paper Source)
4 x 6 Prints (Kodak Gallery)
I used my Epson Stylus Photo R220 to print the front and back of the card on a high quality setting and chose the media type 'Premium Presentation Paper Matte'. It was the perfect setting for the type of cardstock that I used.
After many months of browsing wedding blogs, I knew that I wanted to include a story timeline about our relationship somewhere in out paper products. I decided that the Save the Date would be the perfect place.
I didn't like how our photo printed on the cardstock so I ordered 4 x 6 prints glossy prints from Kodak Gallery and trimmed off the edges to fit it on the card. I used Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 to add the words 'Save Our Date' to the photo before uploading it for printing.
Notice our DIY date banner, I am totally in love with paper rosettes and will be using them throughout our wedding decor. Easy instructions can be found on A Step in the Journey's blog or Catch My Party's blog.
The back of our Save the Date includes accomodation information along with the link for our wedding website.
