A great find usually begins with a few bad encounters...
It was a chilly Saturday evening and we were looking for tasty Indian cuisine. Explore LI gave this new Indian restaurant in Huntington a great review and so did someone on Yelp. We decided to try it. Spice Village Grill sounds great, it even smells great, but it isn't great!
We were so excited to try this new restaurant that we called to make reservations, only to find out that they don't take reservations. However, on Yelp it says that they do take reservations. When we arrived early, we put our names down for a table of 3 and they told us to return in 30 minutes for an available table. Great or so we thought. 20 minutes later...we return to Spice Village Grill and waited patiently as three other parties who arrived after us were seated! We were confused; why we didn't we get seated yet? So we asked and were outraged to discover that the other parties had reservations! Isn't that what we had tried to make earlier this afternoon when we called?! Then they said they could squeeze us in at a table that is really only meant for two people. No thank you! Their lack of hospitality was astonishing for a newly opened restaurant. Outraged and famished we left the premises and to our delight discovered House of India a block away.
Now, the best part of our evening...the minute you step into House of India you can smell the delicious food! The hosts and the atmosphere are very welcoming; you feel as though you just walked into someone's home. The food is very flavorful and delicious!
House of India Indian Special Variety Tray consisting of a vegetable samosa, meat samosa, bhujia, aloo pakora, chooza pakora, cheese pakora and papadam
Chicken Tandoori Chicken marinated in yogurt, garlic, ginger, vinegar and Indian spices
Chicken Tikka Masala boneless chicken pieces cooked with cream, fresh tomato sauce, onion, green pepper and Indian spices
Saag Paneer spinach and homemade cheese with a little curry sauce
The food was excellent and the service was great. I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who is looking for Indian cuisine that awakens your taste buds.
Looks like good food! I'm glad that you decided to go here instead of that other lame-o place.
