Pukk
71 First Avenue (between 4th & 5th Street)
Who knew vegetarian food could taste so good?! Pukk was certainly one of my best finds in the city; tucked away in the Lower East Side where you might miss it if you aren't looking close enough. You no longer have to feel as though you are sacrificing taste for something healthier. The dishes here are always very flavor infused and you might be surprised when you don't miss meat after eating one of their dishes.
When Shaun and I go out, I usually don't order alcoholic drinks but this lychee mimosa sounded really good so I had to have it!
Curry Thai pancake with a spicy curry dip which Shaun could have eaten more as his entree because it was just that good!
Spicy Spring Roll with vermicelli noodle, onion, basil, and mushroom with pineapple sauce.
Massaman curry with tofu.
Prik king duck with prik king paste, string beans, and mushrooms.
Our favorite dish by far is the Duck Basil with onion, bell peppers, and basil in a spicy sauce.
Then, we headed over to Dessert Club Chickalicious! It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. This has become one of my favorite dessert places.
The Caramel Cupcake has an ultra soft and smooth frosting and light cake underneath with a little surprise in the center.
Warm Vanilla Custard (steamed) Pudding is my favorite. It is a melt in your mouth goodness, although Shaun tends to associate the taste vanilla custard to the vanilla Ensure. Ekk!
Other great picks from Dessert Club Chickalicious:
Green Tea Grand Marnier had such light and soft cake layers with the delicate flavor of green tea.
The Decadent Vanilla Custard Cookie Eclair's cookie part is definitely a pleasant surprise when I first dug into this scrumptious dessert with too many calories to recall.
Have you ever noticed that once you start dating a pescatarian, you start eating like one? I have. I have also started to notice how much processed foods I consume and am now actively cutting as much as I can out of my daily intake of food. I used to crave meat every day but I could very easily go without. Now I crave salads instead.
